Ryoko Photoshoot! (If you can call it that)

Hey everyone, I'm not saying that this is the end of the blogs hiatus, but it's looking good! I was assembling some 1/12 chairs and desks for my figmas (you'll see them in a picture story soon enough) and I got the idea for this shoot. This is also officially my first photo-shoot(although I really wouldn't go so far as to call it that)! I'm using the Sega Prize Asakura Ryoko for this, so there aren't any poses or expressions, this is just me playing around with the lighting, angles, and filters, Hopefully you'll enjoy these.

Questions and comments are appreciated! Thanks for checking this out!

  1. Would be better if the lighting was less overpowering to the degree its making an almost fog over the lens. I would also recommend a better camera that would allow you to manually adjust focus because the majority of these photos look blurry as well as lacking a definite focal point.
Background is also somewhat detracting because of the graininess of the material you're using. I would suggest perhaps another material or trying a white backdrop maybe?

Study up on photography and how to make an aesthetically pleasing photograph because you do have potential, you just lack fundamental knowledge.

Also, goddamn photoshop filters, don't do that shit, especially layered on so heavily. Throwing filters on top of a bad photo =/= a good photo.

Lastly, where did you get those desks in such a large quantity! 1/12 furniture is awesome and I require some for my own figmas.

  2. Thanks for the tips!

Right now I'm pretty much just working with the camera attached to my phone and a regular lamp, the filters are options on the phone so they're actually just taken like that. As for the material its some leftover denim I happened across in the laundry room, and I just wanted to try it out. I'm open to suggestion about what kind of material is better for backgrounds.

As for photography knowledge, I took classes in highschool, so I do know about the rule of thirds, framing, depth of focus, etc. I just normally don't play much attention to it because when I take photo's its more for me, and its a quick fun thing. I don't fuss over it. Though for shoots I'll be doing later on with picture stories, I'll definitely be applying a working knowledge of proper photography.

Lastly, I was actually known for going overboard with my figure spending until recent months (my bills were over the 1k mark!) so when the 1/12 desk and chair sets were released, I bought 7 sets(making 21 desks and chairs), so I could make a classroom playset (which is lined up to be my first real shoot).

Thanks again for your comments, I really appreciated deserved criticisms!
